Today I am excited to share ( for free!)  the very favorite  English reader  of my little girl .

You will soon understand why…

I made it using  pretty  pictures of her favorite cuddles and toys on which I drew .  It’s the story of a of a sweet baby tiger  named Tisha, who discovers the world and the words .

It is aimed for kids 2 to 5  years old.

This book , focusing on the short A sound  is the first reader of a series for learning  the vowel sounds.

It can be used as an introduction and discovery of the vowels.

Two other readers are ready ( Short E and short I sounds) and i’m working on two new ones.

Eventually there will also be a whole serie on long vowel sounds and hopefully on digraphs.

You can also use it  along another reading curriculum to reinforce the practice of CVC words (Consonance , Vowel, Consonance)  and review of a few simple sight words.

 You can also  use these readers to teach  English as a foreign language  to young kids as the words and the short sentences are all illustrated clearly  .

Before starting the reading we did a game that she loved and asked for over and over again

i’ll do a blog post on the subject ( with printable pictures to glue on the boxes for the game )

Here is in short how it goes:

take a shoe box or a cereal box  decorate it as an alligator. Give food to the alligator

( he only eats things that have the short a sound if not he gets tummy aches…)

• toy letters , and blocks with the letter a
• little toys that contain the short A sound
• Cvc word cards with short a sounds.
